The Place of Joy

This picture shows me that these two beautiful young girls have abandoned themselves to the moment of mud, joy, freedom and fun. When I saw the picture, it reached into my heart – I could feel their joy and delight and it touched me and became my own.

Children live in the moment, that is all that matters at that time, and they are fully able to feel and express joy by just being who they are. They are not distracted by other thoughts or feelings but are connected to the very source of their being. Vince Gowmon says “Children live in the process of creation, whereas adults are usually more focused on the outcome of their creation. This deprives adults not only of the enjoyment of the process, but also disconnects them from the infinite creativity that lives in their heart.”

If God is everywhere and, in Him, we live and move and have our being, every breathe we take and every move we make must touch Him. When children run and laugh and play, God must be all around them, laughing and moving and delighting in what He has made - feeling their very joy. Always touching and connected to his creations.

As the birds fly and swoop through the air, is it through Him that they move? Does He delight in, and play with the birds, enjoying their skill, their colours and shapes as they move in and through Him. Does He move with them, giving them space but surrounding and touching them all the time, never losing connection?

In the unseen world of God and laws and forces do we have our own space that has been made especially for us and does everything we do create movement that we can’t see but can feel within our hearts. Do we attract, repel, and create ripples with every thought and action?

What joy to become aware of who we are, and what purpose we have. Where we too are connected to the source of our being, and to what surrounds us and gives us life. Where we breathe in God with every breath we take and experience joy just because we have that life and are being! And like essential pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that fit comfortably and perfectly into their own place, we also know and welcome the rest of the pieces, so that our picture can be complete.
